Summary
American Progress seeks a highly motivated Associate Director of Digital Strategy to effectively engage and build strategic audiences—including policymakers, advocates, experts, and more; support the distribution of policy ideas and research; promote engagement with policy ideas; and otherwise advance the organization’s mission.
The ideal candidate would offer experience working with technology and analytics and on creative projects and would demonstrate proven success leading projects within policy change organizations. A strong candidate for this role will work as part of a team that creates, analyzes, and distributes compelling content across a breadth of channels to bring attention to and increase understanding of and support for policy solutions that improve the lives of all Americans.
The Associate Director of Digital Strategy will collaborate regularly with technologists, stakeholders, and other contributors across the Digital Strategy team, the Communications department, and the organization as a whole.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the improvement and optimization of the enterprise platforms American Progress uses to deliver digital content to external audiences, partners, and stakeholders.
- Build webpages, workflows, and audience reports via American Progress CRM platforms and other analytics sources.
- Support the development, delivery, and quality assurance of American Progress email, social media, and website content.
- Develop testing and optimization strategies to yield regular, actionable insights for all digital communications and channels, which will inform changes in practices and planning for enhancements, among other outcomes.
- Audit digital platforms against ongoing organizational needs to identify gaps and participate in selecting and implementing new tools where there are opportunities to do so.
- Champion American Progress’ use of data and analytics solutions to drive impactful digital communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Six to eight years of experience working with digital marketing platforms; email service providers; CMSs; social media management and measurement tools; CRMs; and digital analytics packages such as—but not limited to—Salesforce, Hubspot, Google Analytics, Looker, New/Mode, Hootsuite, Tableau, Semrush, Google Ads, and AWS Cloud. Direct experience with these platforms is preferred.
- Strong writing and editing capabilities to aid in producing external digital content across email, social media, and web.
- Proficiency with database management and data visualization platforms and reporting practices. Familiarity with MySQL, HTML, or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital product management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with both internal stakeholders and colleagues, as well as external strategically identified audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, and a proven ability to navigate ambiguity and change.
- Self-starter; able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects for different stakeholders.
- Creative and committed to innovation and experimentation.
- Open to developing new skills as needed.
