Internship Resume Bank

Summary

American Progress invites current college and university students and recent graduates of up to six months to submit applications for its internship resume bank to be considered for future internship opportunities. American Progress internships provide a unique opportunity to contribute to various policy areas, research projects, and progressive initiatives that shape the national conversation.

Interns work closely with policy experts and contribute to American Progress’ crosscutting priorities, including:

  • Building an economy for all
  • Restoring social trust in democracy
  • Advancing racial equity and justice
  • Tackling climate change and environmental injustice
  • Strengthening health

By joining the resume bank, interested candidates will be considered for future internships as positions become available. Internship positions span multiple departments, including research, communications, policy, and outreach. American Progress internships are designed to provide hands-on experience, professional development, and an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to progressive policy.

Responsibilities (sample duties may include):

  • Assisting with research projects on key policy areas.
  • Drafting policy memos, reports, and other materials.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative research to support policy development.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and partners to advance American Progress’ strategic priorities.
  • Attending and summarizing events, briefings, and congressional hearings.
  • Supporting communications and outreach efforts, including social media content creation and email campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Passion for progressive policy issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to American Progress’ mission and values.

American Progress interns are paid at the Washington, D.C., minimum wage rate and receive paid time off for applicable holidays. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interns are expected to be available to commute to and work from American Progress’ Washington, D.C., office at least two days per week.
