The Senior Fellow will contribute to shaping American Progress’s efforts to develop and advance a policy agenda promoting economic growth and fairness. This effort is part of American Progress’ mission, “to improve the lives of all Americans through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action, with the aim of not only changing the conversation, but changing the country.” The Senior Fellow will be expected to identify ways in which policies that improve economic growth, equity, and financial security intersect with each of the organization’s priorities.
The Senior Fellow will help manage American Progress’ relationships with external stakeholders on economic policy issues, including ally organizations, federal and state policymakers, and the media. The position requires overseeing and executing projects involving policy analysis, research, and writing, as well as driving collaboration with experts across American Progress. The Senior Fellow will provide thought leadership to shape American Progress’s economic policy agenda. They will be expected to be a public voice for a progressive interpretation of the economy through media appearances, public commentary, and engagement with policymakers. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of a broad range of issues in economic policy, including macroeconomic policy, finance, and labor market dynamics. They should be familiar with policymaking processes at the federal, state, and local levels and have established relationships with key experts in the field.

- Update American Progress staff regularly on news and events related to the economy.
