Allie Preston is a senior policy analyst for Criminal Justice Reform at American Progress. Dedicated to reimagining the criminal legal system, Preston previously served as legal and legislative advocate for the Maryland Prisoners’ Rights Coalition, where she supported advocacy work aimed at improving conditions of confinement and opportunities for release in Maryland prisons. While in law school, she also worked as a law clerk at Maryland Legal Aid; a legal intern at the Alexander Williams Center for Education, Justice, and Ethics; as a legal and legislative intern for Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk (D) of the Maryland House of Delegates; and she served as a student attorney for the Prisoners’ Rights Clinic, where she represented a client serving a life sentence at their parole hearing.
Preston holds a bachelor’s in public health from American University and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.
