Jamille Fields Allsbrook is a senior fellow at American Progress, where she focuses on women’s health, maternal and reproductive health, and health equity. She was previously the director of women’s health and rights with the Women’s Initiative at American Progress, a role in which she managed policy development, advised lawmakers, and conducted research and analysis.

Fields Allsbrook is currently a law professor at Saint Louis University (SLU). Prior to joining the SLU Law faculty, Fields Allsbrook focused on reproductive health, rights and justice, and health care reform and finance in both the federal government and with various nonprofit organizations. Most recently, Fields Allsbrook served as the senior policy adviser in the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which administers around $400 million in grants annually, including through the Title X Family Planning Program. She has also held positions at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the National Health Law Program, where she was an If/When/How Reproductive Justice Fellow. Fields Allsbrook has been an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Law, and she completed a clinical teaching fellowship at the Harvard Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation.

Fields Allsbrook’s writing, research, and commentary has been featured in The Washington Post, Health Affairs, The Hill, ESSENCE Magazine, STAT, and The 19th News; she has made television and radio appearances on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Al Jazeera, and Telemundo, among other national, state, and local media outlets.
