Peter Gordon is a senior director of Federal Affairs at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, he worked at Americans for the Arts, where he developed and promoted the organization’s federal legislative agenda to Congress and the administration.
Gordon has also served previously as the associate director of government relations for the Council on Foundations and as a government relations specialist for the National Association of College Stores in Washington, D.C.
Additionally, Gordon worked on Capitol Hill for more than four years in both the Senate, as a staff assistant for former Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL), and in the House of Representatives, as a legislative assistant for Rep. Stephen F. Lynch (D-MA).
Gordon grew up in Massachusetts and holds a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University and a B.A. in history and political science from Williams College. He currently lives in D.C. with his wife, Corey, their daughter, Alex, and their son, Taylor.
