Kevin Metz is the deputy general counsel at American Progress. Previously, he spent almost 25 years at Latham & Watkins LLP as a partner in its litigation and trial department, where he focused on corporate governance litigation, internal and government investigations, and political law issues. While at Latham, Metz had an active pro bono practice in civil rights litigation, served on numerous nonprofit boards, and led a team that was awarded the firm’s top prize for public service in 2021. Prior to his legal career, he was a political reporter for the Tampa Tribune. Metz is a native of Detroit, a proud fan of its sports teams, and a graduate of Northwestern University and Yale Law School. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Michael S. Kanne on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
