Kierra B. Jones (they/she) is a senior policy analyst for the Women’s Initiative at American Progress. In their current role, they work to advance progressive policies that improve access to reproductive health care and lead the team’s contraception portfolio. She also spearheads the team’s strategic storytelling and advocacy efforts to amplify stories from diverse voices who have been affected by women’s economic and health policies. Their work has been referenced in various local and national publications and by the Progressive Caucus Action Fund, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, and by Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Tina Smith (D-MN), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Maria Cantwell (D-WA). Prior to joining American Progress, Jones was a research and policy analyst at the Urban Institute, where they supported a range of projects to advance reproductive health and rights for incarcerated people and programs to support youth and families affected by incarceration.
Jones graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree in sociology, where they researched issues related to LGBTQIA+ families and parenting, HIV care, and sex workers’ rights.
