Gypsy Moore returns to American Progress as the general counsel and a senior vice president, after serving in the Biden administration as senior counsel for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of the General Counsel and in a role as associate general counsel with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Prior to joining American Progress in 2019, Moore completed a civil rights law fellowship with the National Education Association and was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where her practice focused on litigation and government enforcement matters. Moore is a native of Oakland, California, and a graduate of Cornell Law School and Yale University.
