Jerry Parshall is the senior director of the Safety and Justice Campaign at American Progress, where he leads the organization’s messaging, research, and communications on public safety issues. He also is the director for State and Local Government Affairs and manages American Progress’ relationships with state and local governments and external organizations.
Prior to joining American Progress, Parshall was the campaign manager for Rep. Ann McLane Kuster’s (D-NH) successful re-election in 2016. He also has extensive experience in Virginia politics and government, serving in senior roles for a number of state legislative campaigns as well as working for three sessions in the Virginia General Assembly. Parshall worked to advance a number of priorities in the legislature related to transportation, early childhood education, child care, and the opioid epidemic. During college, his first position in politics was as a field director for Pete Buttigieg’s (D-IN) mayoral campaign.
Parshall is a Washington, D.C., native and has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame. He enjoys swimming, volleyball, and watching college football (when the Irish are playing well).
