Madeline Shepherd is a senior director of Government Affairs at American Progress, where she works with the Early Childhood, Health, Immigration, and Women’s Initiative teams, among others, to amplify their impact among federal policymakers.
Prior to joining American Progress, Shepherd worked in federal affairs at a variety of national, mission-driven nonprofit organizations. She was most recently public policy manager at Girl Scouts of the USA, where she liaised between local Girl Scout councils and members of Congress and represented the organization’s federal agenda. She previously worked on former President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign and with the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
Originally from New York, Shepherd graduated summa cum laude from Gettysburg College and earned her master’s in public administration from The George Washington University. She lives, runs, and volunteers in Washington, D.C.
