Washington, D.C. — In their recently unveiled tax plan, the White House and the Congressional majority have been touting a so-called tax cut for small business. However, the biggest beneficiaries of this tax break, known as the “Trump loophole,” are anything but small businesses. Some of the largest and most profitable companies in the United States—including the Trump Organization, hedge funds, and other financial firms, lobbying firms, and law firms—would see a colossal cut from this tax cut, while only a small fraction of Main Street businesses would see any benefit.
On Wednesday, October 11, at 1:30 p.m. ET, Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), a senior member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, will join a New Jersey small business owner and experts from the Center for American Progress Action Fund and Main Street Alliance for a press call to outline how the majority’s tax plan actually does very little for the vast majority of small businesses, and instead gifts huge and unnecessary tax cuts to the richest Americans.
