Washington, D.C. — Rep. Nita Lowey and faith leaders, including a Catholic priest from Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) district, will hold a press call on Wednesday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. ET to denounce House Budget Committee Chairman Ryan’s proposed budget, which promises to contain deep cuts to programs that protect struggling families while preserving huge tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
Speakers will discuss the House GOP budget plan’s destructive impact on vulnerable families, jobs, and the safety net, and continue a longstanding religious call for a responsible approach to deficit reduction that protects working families and the poor, and insists on shared sacrifice from the richest Americans. New state-by-state data will be available on the job losses and hunger Rep. Ryan’s food stamp/SNAP cuts will likely cause.
