Washington, D.C. – Today, Heather Boushey, Senior Economist at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, had the following reaction to the announcement of September’s unemployment figures:
The economy has added private sector jobs for 31 consecutive months, and President Barack Obama has created 663,000 more jobs than lost over his first term. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, supporting the auto industry, and other policies implemented in the 111th Congress were the right path forward.
Moving to supply-side economic policies, as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney advocates, will not only stymie job creation but also risk pulling the economy backward, as these were the very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place.
