Washington, D.C. — Today, for the second time this year, Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would protect in vitro fertilization (IVF) access nationwide. In response, Kate Kelly, senior director for the Women’s Initiative at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, shared the following statement:
Donald Trump and Republicans’ cruel actions on fertility care speak louder than their words. The self-described “leader” on IVF, whose own handpicked Supreme Court justices threw fertility care into chaos by overturning Roe v. Wade, didn’t lift a finger to pressure Senate Republicans to support IVF protections because he doesn’t give a damn about policies that impact American women. Republicans, yet again, have made clear that they are full steam ahead in their relentless crusade to strip women of their fundamental freedoms to make decisions about their own bodies and futures.
Donald Trump and Republicans will do anything to impose their dangerous MAGA ideology and Project 2025 agenda on everyone, even though it’s wildly out of step with what the American people—on both sides of the aisle—want.
